Judge Steven Dankof

Judge Dankof was appointed as a General Division Judge by then Governor Ted Strickland on December 30, 2010. Judge Dankof was elected to the Bench in 2012, and thereafter re-elected in 2014 and again in 2020. Judge Dankof is the Men’s Achievement Recovery Court (MARC) Judge and a member of the court’s Probation, Pretrial & Investigative Services Committee. He received his BBA summa cum laude from Ohio University in 1973 and his JD with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Law in 1976, where he also received The Order of the Coif. Judge Dankof has frequently lectured for the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association, the Ohio State and Dayton Bar Associations, and the University of Cincinnati’s Honors College and School of Law. Judge Dankof is the author of Extreme Cruelty – the Complicity of Judges in the Shame of Wrongful Convictions, and a moving force behind An Evening for Justice – an annual event in Dayton, Ohio to benefit the work of the Ohio Innocence Project.
