Court Issues Warning Regarding Ongoing Phone Call Scam
June 3, 2026
Montgomery County Common Pleas Court has been made aware of a phone call scam circulating in the community, and residents are advised to remain vigilant.
Individuals have reported receiving phone calls that appear to come from the court’s general phone number, 937-225-6000. During these calls, scammers falsely claim to represent the court and may request personal information, financial information, or other sensitive details. In some cases, callers have threatened legal consequences if the individual refused to comply.
The court does not make outgoing phone calls from its general phone number, 937-225-6000. This phone number is a general information phone line that only receives calls from the public. Court staff will never demand financial information over the phone under threat of arrest or other legal action.
Scammers can manipulate caller ID information to make a call appear as if it is from a legitimate government agency. Community members who receive a phone call claiming to be from the court should not rely solely on caller ID to verify the call. Instead, any community member who receives a suspicious phone call should hang up immediately and report the call to their local police department.
Please report any questions about the authenticity of a communication through the court’s contact form.
