If you have a conflict with the on call period on your summons, you may request a Deferral when you submit your summons’ questionnaire by mail or eResponse. You may also call Jury Services at 937-225-4704. Ohio law allows one deferral for as long as six months. Conflicts may include doctor’s appointments, vacations, business trips, job interviews or class commitments for students.
You should request a Disqualification if you are not a citizen of the United States of America, not a resident of Montgomery County or not yet 18 years of age.
If you are 76 years of age or older you may request to be Excused by calling the Jury Services office at 937-225-4707, emailing eresponse.eresponse@montcourt.oh.gov, or submitting your completed Questionnaire via regular mail or through the Court’s eResponse portal.
If you are a breastfeeding mother you may request to be Excused by submitting either a medical note signed by your main care provider or by submitting a notarized affidavit. This affidavit can be submitted via regular mail, faxed to 937-824-7967, or scanned and emailed as an attachment to eresponse.eresponse@montcourt.oh.gov.
Requests to be excused for financial hardship or work hardship may be discussed with the judge during the jury selection process in the courtroom.
