DAYTON- On July 23, 2021, the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in partnership with Equitas Health will be hosting its 1st Annual Advocacy Open House. This informative and engaging event held for court staff and special guests has been developed to provide invaluable information and resources as well as address issues and concerns that specifically affect members of the LGBTQ+ communities. Additionally, there will be agency participation from the Montgomery County Public Health Department,
Montgomery County Job and Family Services, Daybreak, Artemis Domestic Violence Center, PFLAG, Dayton Police Department, Planned Parenthood, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Have a Gay Day, and Brightview Health. As community partners, the court and these agencies provide integral services to the clients they serve. This all-day event will be held at Sinclair Community College and will consist of two sessions: 10:00am 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A panel discussion will be moderated by The Honorable Judge Mary Wiseman, and will cover topics such as: Cultural Competence & Humility, Understanding Intersectionality and its Impacts, Transgender Issues/The Rise of Violence, and The Effects of Trauma.
