Judge Steven M. Abshire Takes the Judicial Oath of Office

Judge Steven M. Abshire took the judicial oath of office and assumed his duties on May 4th following his appointment to the General Division bench.
Judge Gerald Parker presided over the ceremony, which took place in the Montgomery County Courts Building, and Judge Kate Huffman of the Second District Court of Appeals administered the oath. Judge Amy Lewis of Greene County Juvenile Court and Mayor and Council Brooks Compton of Centerville gave remarks, while Father Brian Phelps of Incarnation Church gave an invocation.
At the time of his appointment to the bench, Judge Abshire served as a magistrate in Greene County Juvenile Court. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office in several divisions, followed by several years in private practice litigation. Judge Abshire is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Operation Desert Storm. He attended Wright State University and the University of Toledo College of Law.
